Decks add value, beauty and functionality to your home. Decks are a place to gather, socialize, eat and hangout with family and friends. We build our decks from the best possible materials available and will work with you on the deck design so you get everything you want for your dollar.
Decking materials come in a variety of products to fit every budget and style:
Cedar: Cedar is a naturally beautiful wood ideal for decks. Colours range from white and golden in the sapwood to brown and reddish tones in the heartwood. Cedar has its own oils in the wood that helps to prevent rot and preserve the wood and repel insects. Cedar is a very common option that looks great on its own, stained, or be left to weather which turns it to a silver/grey patina. If weathered, cedar can be returned to its natural colour with a pressure washer, where it can be stained if desired.
Vinyl: Vinyl decking is the best value for your money per square foot. You not only get a beautiful looking deck, but with heat welded seams, vinyl is completely waterproof, ideal for decks that extends over an interior living space. We use a 68 mil vinyl that complies with BC roofing code for flattop, waterproof roofing. We have 14 different styles to choose from to fit any style of home.
Pressure Treated: Made from pine, pressure treated wood is soaked in a solution that penetrates the wood and preserves it from rot, mould and insects. A cost effective option that will last for years but requires a lot of matainence to keep the decking clean. Pressure washing once a year and staining every two years is recommended to keep a nice deck.
Composite: Composite decking has become increasingly popular, especially in wet climates like Vancouver and the Fraser Valley. A man made product, composite decking has increased its options for products from high end to budget friendly decking and matching railings. While virtually maintenance free, composite decking still requires cleaning with soap and water once to twice a year.
Hardwood: While many people only know of hardwood used as interior flooring, hardwood decking has been around for years. Hardwood decking is responsibly and sustainably harvested from Brazil with an unmatched look and durability. Hardwood decking is often used for seaside applications like cruise ships and boardwalks, and is so dense that it has a fire rating equivalent of concrete and steel. Hardwood gives a luxurious look is reliable performance, and falls between clear cedar and composite in price. We use Kayu brand hardwood decking, visit their website www.Kayu.ca for more information and ideas.
